Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte were not the only British royals to make a rare appearance at a sports championship this weekend.
On July 14, the day the Princess of Wales and her daughter, 9, attended the men's singles final at Wimbledon 2024 in England, Prince William and the couple's eldest son Prince George, 10, watched the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship, or the Euro 2024 final, between England and Spain in Berlin, Germany.
Twinning in black suits, the Prince of Wales and George, who will turn 11 next week, walked on a red carpet leading into a VIP suite of the Olympiastadion.
They watched the game with several officials as well as Spain's King Felipe VI and his and Queen Letizia's daughter, Infanta Sofía, 17, the youngest of their two children. The Spanish Embassy in the U.K. later released a photo of the two royal families inside the stadium.
In addition, William chatted for a while with new U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer inside the VIP suite and also introduced his son to executives such as Deutscher Fußball-Bund (German Football Association) President Bernd Neuendorf.
England ended up losing to Spain 2-1. William expressed his disappointment on social media.
"This it time it just wasn't meant to be," he wrote on his and Kate's Instagram Stories. "We're all still so proud of you. Onwards @england."
The 42-year-old and his wife, who is undergoing cancer treatments, have occasionally taken George and Charlotte to sporting events over the years. In April, William and the couple's eldest son attended the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final match between Aston Villa and Lille OSC at Villa Park in Birmingham, England.
And almost exactly one year ago, Willliam and Kate—who also share son Prince Louis, 6—brought both George and Charlotte to Wimbledon, marking their daughter's debut at the tennis tournament.
